At times, life can become overwhelmingly stressful, burdened with numerous demands and high expectations that may feel insurmountable. Whether you're dealing with individual obstacles, relationship hurdles as a couple, or searching for guidance in supporting your child, now is the moment to seek assistance. It's important to recognize that asking for help is a strength, not a weakness, and it's a crucial step towards finding balance and peace in your life. I specialize in issues around family/relationship conflicts, anxiety/panic, eating disorders, depression and major life adjustment issues

Embarking on the journey to find the right support starts with connecting with a therapist who resonates with your needs. I'm Daisy Velez, a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), with a wealth of experience in assisting teens, adults, and families navigate life's complexities. My approach to therapy is centered around a collaborative, person-centered method. I believe in meeting clients exactly where they are, customizing treatment goals to align with their unique situations. My goal is to equip you with the insights, skills, and tools necessary for enhancing your self-understanding, reducing symptoms/stressors, and ultimately elevating your quality of life!

In my practice, I employ a diverse array of clinical strategies, including cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, solution-focused techniques, and dialectical behavioral tools. My aim is to foster a supportive atmosphere that encourages open dialogue about your emotions and devises concrete, practical strategies to achieve your aspirations. Our sessions might involve role-playing or homework assignments, but we'll consistently revisit our strategies to ensure our approach remains aligned with your evolving goals and needs! I am Bilingual, I fluently speak Spanish and English.

Let’s initiate a conversation to explore how we can collaborate towards your wellbeing! Driven by a passion for facilitating personal and familial growth, I'm dedicated to empowering you with the skills needed for positive transformation! I am currently offering telehealth sessions to provide flexible and accessible support.

When was the last time you truly slowed down and recognized your need for rest? When was the last time you were able to quiet your mind, and tune into your body? When was the last time you were vulnerable within a supportive community? These practices are essential to living a physically and emotionally healthy life, because connection, to self and others, stands as one of the most significant buffers against the harmful effects of chronic stress, tension, and trauma.

Therefore, as a Licensed Master Social Worker, I bring a holistic and relational approach to therapy by seamlessly integrating traditional therapeutic models with mind-body healing principles. This approach allows me to create a treatment plan designed for you that incorporates yoga, breathwork, and mindfulness with more traditional therapies, such as CBT, DBT, and IFS. Specializing in somatic trauma therapy, my unique understanding of the connection between thoughts, feelings, and somatic sensations allows me to help you address the negative effects of adverse childhood experiences (ACE), chronic stress, and trauma on both mind and body. However, whether working with individuals, couples, or families, my primary goal is always to first create the necessary safety required to build the therapeutic relationship.

After earning a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of New Hampshire, I began working in psychiatric inpatient care, giving me a strong foundation in non-violent crisis intervention and group facilitation, as well as treating conditions such as ADHD, anxiety, depression, relationship conflict, substance misuse, and PTSD. Feeling like there was still a missing piece to the puzzle, I began studying and training with world renowned trauma expert, Dr. David Berceli, to better understand how trauma was not only affecting our thoughts and feelings, but our bodies and our nervous systems. Following my certification, I spent over a decade in private practice helping individuals, couples, groups, and communities heal from unresolved stress and trauma.

However, as a life-long learner, I also have a master’s degree in Special Education, as well as a certification as a School Social Worker Specialist (CSSW-S). I have a license in the state of Connecticut for Massage Therapy, with additional certifications as a Certified Children’s Massage Therapist and a Certified Infant Massage Teacher. Similarly, I hold an advanced certification in Somatic Trauma Release Therapy, and I am a registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200) with additional certification as a Children’s Yoga Teacher (CCYT). Finally, as an equestrian who has been relegated to the sidelines, you will most likely find me outside of the office practicing yoga, enjoying time at the beach, or advocating for the rights and wellness of underserved communities through organizations such as Free Mom Hugs at Pride events across the state of Connecticut. Although, we can’t leave out the possibility that you MIGHT find her at the barn someday…

Loyal to the ideals of my profession, I believe in the inherent dignity and worth of every person regardless of their circumstances, abilities, race, religion, sexual orientation, or gender identity. I recognize the importance of human relationships, believing that they are not only a vehicle for great change and transformation, but that the health of these relationships dictate the quality of our own wellbeing, and I understand my privilege and commit to advancing equity in all areas of my practice.
